Samsung Galaxy M series: A budget friendly Samsung??
We all know that Samsung has lost its major chunk of share in
the smartphone market. All this is due to the Chinese brands like Xiaomi which
has become a largest smartphone brand for India. And it ids no any doubt as a
rational consumer is getting all the required specs within the budget. But this
has led companies like Samsung to move on towards the lower segment of
smartphone thus bringing us with 2 latest phones: M10 and M20. These smartphones
tend to be in the price segment of 8,000 to 13,000. And with these devices Samsung
has finally entered the Notch Game.
M20
Build:
Starting off with the Big Brother, the M20 has the
Infinity-V display. Its nothing different but a water drop style notch as seen
in various other smartphones like Realme, ASUS. The body is a Polycarbonate
[plastic] body, but the look and feel of the phone doesn’t look cheap at all. The
back of the phone is glossy and the edges are curved which makes it easy to
grip in hands.
Display:
The display of the phone is a TFT panel 6.3 inch Full HD+
with the infinity-V display. The viewing angles of the phone are great, as u
can expect from a Samsung device. The device is powered by Exynos 7904 which is
an octa-core processor and has a huge 5,000 mAh battery. It also has a Type-C
charging slot and supports quick charge. Samsung has also provided a 15W
charger within the box which is a great deal.
Lock:
Talking about the lock mechanism, the phone has a fingerprint
reader and also supports face unlock.
Camera:
Dual camera is in trend and the same you will get in this phone.
With a 13MP primary camera with f1.9 aperture. The secondary rear camera has a
5MP ultra-wide feature. For the front, the company has employed an 8-megapixel
shooter with f/2.0 aperture. And it is worth noticing that the camera
performance is not that great.
Performance and software:
Talking about performance, the Samsung Galaxy M20 is the
first smartphone from the company to feature the latest Exynos 7904 octa-core
processor. The phone is available in two memory configurations, 3GB + 32GB and
4GB + 64GB.
On day-to-day front, the chipset a comparable performance to
the Snapdragon 636 chipset. However, it lags a bit in the gaming department. It
is safe to say that the phone is meant for casual gaming. Playing heavy games
like PUBG will not give a flawless experience.
Price:
The smaller variant of 3+32gb will cost INR 10,990 and the
larger variant of 4+64gb will cost INR 12,990.

Build:
The M10 comes with almost the same build quality and design.
It also has a polycarbonate body with the Infinity-V display.
Display:
Galaxy M10 has a HD 6.2” HD+ infinity-V display ensuring
truly immersive viewing experience. The screen is again a TFT panel with good
viewing angles.
Camera:
Galaxy M10 also offers a dual camera setup of 13-megapixel
and 5-megapixel wide-angle sensor at the rear. There’s also a 5-megapixel
selfie camera with in-display flash.
Lock:
Unlike the former device, this phone does not have the
fingerprint reader and the lock is dependable only on the face unlock.
Performance:
According to Hindustan times,
Galaxy M10 was pretty smooth during brief usage. There were
no lags while scrolling through the phone. There’s no fingerprint sensor on the
phone with face unlock being the primary security option. I tried out the face
unlock on Galaxy M10 and its slightly slow. Given that it’s the primary
security option with no fingerprint sensor, it could be an issue.
Price:
M10 is priced at INR 8,990 for the 3GB+32GB variant and INR 7,990 for the 2GB+16GB.KEY SPECIFICATIONS: |
